This is a new service we offer alongside our traditional restoration of country antiques. Both start with an initial assessment (photographs are a good starting place), before a final bench assessment which allows us to give you a fixed price for the work discussed and agreed on. Sometimes this is a refinish (shellac or oil finish) we can talk you through the difference or it can be a complete rebuild, tightening loose joints and replacing missing pieces. Iron work and brass included.

For rush we use the traditional fresh water rush sourced in the UK. It’s renewable and sustainable. Woven by hand continuing a trade that’s been practiced with little change from the middle ages. Giving chairs a new lease of life. With care they will need doing once a generation with tough daily family use that might be reduced considerably but we have seen many examples over the years original to their nineteenth century frames.
